A pleated fly screen door is the most elegant fly screen for a patio door or a large sliding door. The black pleated mesh opens and closes like a concertina and disappears, folded up, into a slim cassette beside the door. At the bottom there is a track just 3 mm high: you step over it without noticing, even with a pushchair.
Why choose a pleated fly screen door?
- Almost invisible: a 35 mm cassette, with the mesh folded away when you're not using it.
- Virtually threshold-free: a flat 3 mm bottom track, or an angled bottom track for a sloping threshold.
- For large openings too: a single pleated screen up to 2.9 m, or two pleated screens meeting in the middle up to 5.8 m.
- Black mesh with horizontal tension cords, which is the easiest to see through; at the bottom it runs in a plastic chain.
- In the colour of your door and window frames.
Sizes and versions
A pleated fly screen door comes in fixed widths: 960, 1,300, 1,600, 1,900, 2,300, 2,600 and 2,900 mm. You enter the overall dimensions: the total width the pleated screen may take up, including the cassette and pull bar, and the height from the floor to the top of the top track, up to 3 m. We use the next fixed width up and cut the tracks to your size. You also choose the sliding direction: the side the mesh folds away to, as seen from outside.
Inside the reveal or face-fixed
As standard, the pleated screen is fitted inside the reveal: between the sides of the opening, on your door or window frame. For this you need a depth of at least 45 mm. If you want it face-fixed, in front of the opening on the façade or the frame, the cassette clicks onto a 33 mm mounting profile and a mohair brush seal on the inside of the pull bar closes the gap. A pleated screen with a surrounding aluminium frame, supplied fully assembled, is available up to 1,600 mm wide.
Options
- Magnetic catch: the pull bar closes magnetically; on a double pleated screen, the two pull bars close against each other.
- Mohair brush seal on the inside of the pull bar: from 5 to 35 mm, at no extra cost.
- Angled bottom track: a 7° profile that compensates for a sloping threshold.
- Coloured bottom track: in a textured powder coating instead of anodised aluminium.
How to measure
Measure the width at three heights and the height in three places, and each time take the smallest measurement. Check the floor too: the bottom track is bonded flat to the floor. If the threshold slopes, choose the angled bottom track. The measuring guide shows you how, with drawings.
