A roller fly screen is a fly screen that stays out of sight when you don't need it. The mesh is rolled up in a cassette at the top of the window and you pull it down when the mosquitoes arrive. Out of season, you roll it back up so that your window stays completely clear.
Benefits of a roller fly screen
- Made to measure for your window, up to 1,650 mm wide and 2,350 mm high.
- Slim 40 × 40 mm cassette and 32 mm guide rails: barely noticeable.
- One-handed operation: the pull bar clicks into the guide rails at the bottom.
- The mesh stays taut in the guide rails; if it does come loose, it runs back in by itself the next time you move it.
- For standard windows and roof windows.
- In the colour of your window frames: the standard colours at no extra cost; any other RAL colour is also available.
Inside the reveal, face-fixed or on a roof window
Fitted inside the reveal, the roller fly screen sits within the opening, between the walls or in the window frame. Face-fixed, it goes on the window frame or the wall around the opening, with the guide rails overlapping the opening on each side. On a roof window, the roller fly screen is fitted on the inside, within the roof window's lining, and you operate it from the front.
How to measure
You order a roller fly screen by its overall dimensions, including the cassette and guide rails. For fitting inside the reveal, measure the opening from wall to wall. For face-fixing and for roof windows, measure the clear opening (the visible size of the opening) and add 64 mm to the width and 56 mm to the height.
Measure in three places and enter the smallest measurement. Not every width is available at every height, because the cassette has to be able to carry the mesh; the configurator tells you straight away.
Operation and brush seal
If the roller fly screen is fitted on the inside, you take hold of the pull bar from the front. If it is fitted on the outside of the window, you operate it through the open window, from the back. The brush seal on the pull bar closes against the windowsill at the bottom, or against the frame when the screen is face-fixed in front of it.
Mesh
A roller fly screen has a special roll-up mesh in grey or black. Black is the easiest to see through, while grey is the least noticeable against light-coloured frames.
Good to know
For a door, a roller fly screen door is the better choice, with a magnetic catch and a sturdier cassette. Not sure how to fit it? Send a photo of your window via the contact form and we'll confirm the best solution.
