Maintaining PVC windows comes down to two things: removing dirt without damaging the profile, and protecting the top layer against weathering. Over time, PVC profiles often develop black streaks, limescale marks or a dull, faded colour. The Novatio Maintenance Box PVC contains a product for each of these problems, complemented by a microfibre cloth and a wash mitt.
Contents of the Maintenance Box PVC
- Novacare Shamp-Wax Windows and Doors, 500 ml: wax shampoo for regular washing, after which water beads off the profile.
- Bio-Paste Windows and Doors, 600 g tub: cleaning paste for limescale, efflorescence and black streaks.
- Surface Renewer Windows and Doors, 400 ml bottle: restores the colour and gloss of faded PVC.
- Novawipe Microfibre FS Soft: soft green 38 × 38 cm microfibre cloth.
- Rasta wash mitt: double-sided microfibre mitt for washing.
How to maintain PVC windows
- Rinse away sand and loose dirt with plenty of water.
- Wash with 60–80 ml of Shamp-Wax per bucket of lukewarm water, from the bottom up, and rinse with clean water.
- Dry with a chamois or the microfibre cloth.
- Black streaks or limescale: rub in Bio-Paste with a damp cloth or soft sponge until it foams, rinse and wipe dry.
- Weathered or dull PVC: take a soft, dry sponge, use it to apply Surface Renewer neat and wipe off the excess with a clean cloth.
Good to know
Bio-Paste can also be used on powder-coated aluminium, but not on painted surfaces. On coloured PVC, powder coating or a finish you are unsure about, try the paste out on a hidden spot first. During treatment, the PVC must not be colder than 10 °C or warmer than 30 °C, so do not work in full sun. If you only have aluminium windows, the standard Maintenance Box or the Maintenance Box Plus is the better choice.
Safety
Bio-Paste is not classified as hazardous. The shampoo carries the signal word Danger: it causes serious eye damage and skin irritation (H318, H315). Surface Renewer is a flammable liquid and vapour that may be fatal if swallowed and enters airways (H226, H304), may cause drowsiness or dizziness (H336) and contains a substance that may produce an allergic reaction. Wear gloves and eye protection.
