This Schrack 10A circuit breaker (MCB) monitors a single circuit and switches it off in the event of an overload or short circuit. With a rating of 10 A, it is intended for low-power circuits. After a trip, you switch the toggle back on once the cause has been dealt with.
What is a 10 A MCB used for?
In a home, you choose 10 A for circuits that draw little current, such as:
- indoor or outdoor lighting
- electric roller shutters and external blinds
- a ventilation unit
- a doorbell, garage door or control systems
Many Belgian homes still have a 3×230 V network, in which both conductors of a circuit are phase conductors. This 2-pole MCB protects both of them; in a 3N×400 V network, it protects the phase and the neutral.

Installation and connection
The BMS4 clips onto a 35 mm DIN rail and can be mounted in any orientation. Your electrician strips no more than 12 mm of insulation and tightens the terminal screws to between 2 and 2.4 Nm. Solid conductors go straight into the terminal; flexible conductors need a bootlace ferrule.
Good to know
The right rating for a circuit depends on the cable and the load: your electrician matches the MCB to the cross-section of the conductors, as required by AREI (the Belgian electrical installation regulations). Have the MCB installed by a qualified electrician. A new or modified installation must then be inspected by an approved inspection body.
