The 63A circuit breaker (MCB) is the largest 2-pole BMS4. It is used for a heavy-duty supply cable, for example to a sub-distribution board with many circuits.
When do you choose 63 A?
- supplying a sub-distribution board with many or heavily loaded circuits
- a single-phase load for which the manufacturer specifies 63 A
A 63 A rating calls for a heavy cable; the electrician calculates the cross-section in accordance with AREI (the Belgian electrical installation regulations) and checks whether your supply allows this.

Installation and connection
The Schrack BMS4 C 63/2 (BM417263) protects both poles and takes up 2 modules, approximately 35 mm. It is designed for a rated voltage of 230/400 V AC at 50/60 Hz. The terminals accept conductors from 1 to 25 mm². The breaking capacity is 4.5 kA to EN 60898-1 and 6 kA to EN 60947-2. The MCB is calibrated at 30 °C and suitable for ambient temperatures from -5 °C to +40 °C.
Good to know
Leave the installation to a qualified electrician. If you modify or extend your installation, you must then have it inspected by an approved inspection body, as AREI requires.
