Use this 6A circuit breaker (MCB) to protect circuits that carry very little current. A low rated current also protects thin wires and small devices. Both poles are protected, so it is also suitable for a 3×230 V network.
When do you choose 6 A?
- the power supply for a home automation or control system
- a bell transformer or a small power supply
- an appliance for which the manufacturer specifies 6 A protection
The electrician chooses the cable in accordance with AREI (the Belgian electrical installation regulations); a circuit protected by a small MCB can use thinner wire than a 16 A circuit.

Installation and connection
The Schrack BMS4 C 6/2 (BM417206) takes up 2 modules, approximately 35 mm, and is designed for a rated voltage of 230/400 V AC at 50/60 Hz. The terminals accept conductors from 1 to 25 mm². The breaking capacity is 4.5 kA to EN 60898-1 and 6 kA to EN 60947-2. The MCB is calibrated at 30 °C and suitable for ambient temperatures from -5 °C to +40 °C.
Good to know
Leave the installation to a qualified electrician. If you modify or extend your installation, you must then have it inspected by an approved inspection body, as AREI requires.
