This 4-pole 30 mA residual current device (RCD) protects people in an installation with three phases and neutral. It monitors all four conductors together and trips at a leakage current of 30 mA at the latest. At 4 modules, it is twice as wide as the 2-pole version.
Use in a three-phase home
In a 3N×400 V installation, a single 4-pole 30 mA device can protect circuits on different phases, for example:
- the bathroom, washing machine and tumble dryer, for which AREI (the Belgian electrical installation regulations) requires 30 mA
- a three-phase appliance for which the manufacturer specifies 30 mA
- the circuits of a workshop or garden shed

Installation and connection
The 4-pole BCF6 has terminals for the three phases and a neutral marked N. It clips onto a 35 mm DIN rail and can be fed from the top or the bottom. The terminals accept flexible conductors up to 2 × 16 mm² or solid conductors up to 35 mm².
Good to know
If you use it in a network without neutral or on fewer poles, connect it according to Schrack's instructions. For an EV charger or inverter, the manufacturer may require a different type, such as Type B. Have it installed by a qualified electrician; an inspection by an approved inspection body is then mandatory.
